To Our Friends and Neighbors in Richardson:
This week an additional item of very good news for Richardson taxpayers was announced.
Standard and Poor's rating service has given the City of Richardson the coveted AAA bond rating. Richardson is one of only 4 cities in the State of Texas and one of only 88 Cities in the United States to receive this outstanding rating.
Superior recognition as a well-managed city is only one of the areas of importance for this rating.
While this may seem esoteric to many, the bottom line is that, as Richardson issues bonds for roads, etc., the AAA rating will make it less expensive for the City to borrow money.
The press release states, in part: "The upgrade is based on management's maintenance of strong reserves established by policy, which would allow the city to maintain its elevated financial condition even in the event of fiscal stresses such as the 2000-2002 downturn in the telecommunications sector that affected the area, as well as the current economic contraction."
It continues: "In addition, Richardson has very strong income and wealth levels, as well as strong, tenured, and responsive management. Additional credit strengths include the city's history of very strong financial performance, partly because of its strong financial policies and practices and moderate overall debt levels as a percentage of market value."
The Richardson Coalition appreciates the hard work over many years by City Management and prior city councils and kept in place by the new council. We thank Mr. Keffler, our City Manager, and his staff for their diligent stewardship of our city.
Their hard work has produced this outstanding recognition for our City as well as a long-term financial benefit for all taxpayers!
Thank you, Bill, and your staff!
One technical correction from our last email: The Texas Police Chief's Association, not the Texas Police Association, presented the "Top Cop" award to Chief Zacharias.
