We urge our City Council to take action on the following issues:
Improve Public Safety:
- Increase support for police and fire chiefs.
- Allocate additional resources for police and fire departments.
- Enforce tougher penalties for criminals.
- Renew focus on gangs and drugs.
- Continue and expand where legally possible restrictions on sexually oriented businesses.
Crack down on run down apartments.
- The council needs to implement stronger measures and new ordinances if necessary to clean up run down apartments that hurt property values, decrease our quality of life and increase crime.
- The council needs to establish a proactive plan for future multi-family residential development to prevent today’s apartment problems from recurring in the future. See Coalition Editorial
Improve our road system.
- The council needs to review our long-term road plan and implement a comprehensive solution that benefits roads across all of our city, east, west, north and south.
- We need improvement sooner, rather than later.
